Athlete's Choice
$75
Mount Sterling, OH
This is going to be an athlete's choice event. There will be 3 separate events for each category. With every paid entry, the athlete will get to vote which of the 3 events for each category they want. Entries will close on April 5th and on April 6th (sooner if we cap out), I will tally all the votes and publish the official list of events as chosen by the people! Note: THIS DOES NOT MEAN WE WILL AUTOMATICALLY BE DOING THE EVENTS YOU VOTE FOR! This is democracy in action. If 19 people vote for one press and one person votes for a different press, the one 19 people voted for will be the one we do on contest day. In the event of a tie, I will use a random number generator to pick the event.
This contest is capped at 25 people. My barn is good sized, but not massive and any more than that plus spectators and volunteers would be a bit snug. I love you all, but I don't want to be THAT close to you.
FOR ALL EVENTS: No branded apparel from a competing federation (Strongman Corp or OSG). No tacky or any kind. Liquid chalk is allowed, as is regular chalk. I will have regular chalk available. Lever belts will need to be turned to the side on any event where the clasp might damage the equipment.
Viking Press: 60 seconds, facing away from the apparatus. All standard pressing accessories are allowed. Grip shirts are allowed, if it will make you feel better. Double dipping is allowed. Always thought that was a stupid rule, anyway.
Tire Deadlift: Last man standing format. 3 attempts, Wessels rule applies - if you miss, you're done. Lowest weight possible is 230lbs. We'll be using a hummer tire bar and regular tires. Pick height is about 13" and there is a LOT of flex in this bar. Straps: You may use any strap that releases when you let go of it. So, no figure 8s, no hooks. Briefs are fine, suits are NOT. Feet must be covered.
Odd Objects Medley: Sandbag, Keg, Husa. I do have 2 fire hydrants that weigh 175 and 192. If everyone in your group agrees and the weight is close (within 30lbs), you may use the hydrant instead of the sandbag. If you do, I HIGHLY recommend work gloves as the bottoms of the hydrants are not exactly hand friendly. You will have 60 seconds to carry all 3 implements 40 feet each to the end. NO SHOULDERING OF THE IMPLEMENTS! Split times will be taken. Gloves and grip shirts are allowed.
Yoke: Max distance, no time limit. Any time you set the yoke down, you have 10 seconds to re-pick and continue carrying. This includes the turn around zones at 50 feet.
Keg Over Bar: 48" for the women and 52" for the men. Max reps in 60 seconds. Do not throw the keg. I do not want my volunteers getting killed by a flying keg. It also makes it WAY easier for them to return it to you if it's not 13 feet in the air. We MAY adjust the weight depending on how the carry goes. I have them the same for now. If your group struggles with the carry, I'll adjust down for the load so you're not just dry humping the keg for 60 seconds. Likewise, if your group completely manhandles the keg on the carry, I'll make it heavier. If I think you're all pretending to struggle with it in the medley to get a break here, I'll make it stupid heavy just for spite.
MAS wrestling is the tie breaker event, (to be used to break a tie involving podium spots).
AFTER PARTY: I'm planning to head over to Hammer Time Pub (27 S London St, Mt Sterling, OH 43143) shortly after the conclusion of the contest. They have great food, prices are reasonable, serving sizes are large, and it's family friendly. I'd love to have you join me for some more fun and laughs over there.
