Day of the Deadlift

Trinity Iron Gym is excited to present Day of the Deadlift 2024!
Costumes are not required but are highly encouraged! Bonus prizes will be awarded to competitors and spectators with the best Halloween costumes.
First event will commence at 9:00 am sharp. Rules meeting will be at 8:30 am. Athletes may come as early as 7:30 to warm up.
Event Rules
FOR ALL EVENTS:
- Competition shirts, grip shirts, or Halloween costumes must be worn at all times.
- No bare feet. Must have at least socks on.
- No tacky or sticky substance for any event.
- No gloves allowed.
- No buildup belts allowed (only one hard or one soft belt).
- No suits or briefs allowed.
- Any athlete who leaks any bodily fluids (blood, urine, etc.) on the competition field must help clean it up.
1. Log Clean and Press
Equipment Allowed: grip shirt, chalk, wrist wraps, elbow sleeves, knee sleeves, belt.
Time Limit: 60 seconds
Scoring: Max Reps
Athlete will be given 60 seconds to get clean and press the log for as many reps as possible. Log must be fully locked out at the top and athlete must wait for a down command before being brought back down. Athlete may viper press, split jerk, push jerk, or push press the weight. Athlete will start behind the implement, hands NOT on implement and given an Athlete ready, GO, command to start. Down command will be given at full lockout, if skipped the rep will NOT count. If repeated down commands are skipped, one rep will be taken away for each skipped down command.
Dropping weight from overhead/chest level is NOT PERMITTED. Log must be brought down under control. Deliberately dropping the log from overhead, will result in a ZERO for the event.
Men will use a standard 12-inch log and women will use a 10-inch log.
Good Lift: having the implement locked out, under control overhead with arms straight, head through, legs and feet parallel and stationary.
2. Graveyard Carry
Equipment Allowed: grip shirt, chalk, wrist wraps, elbow sleeves, knee sleeves, belt.
Time Limit: 60 seconds
Distance: 50 feet down, 50 feet back
Scoring: Distance + Time
Athlete will start behind the implement. On start command of the judge, athlete will carry the sandbag down 50ft and drop it past the marker. Athlete will run back to the original starting place and pick up the Husafell stone and carry it past the marker. If athlete does not finish total run in 60 seconds, a distance will be recorded. Athlete is permitted two drops.
3. Stiff Bar Deadlift
Equipment Allowed: Chalk, Wrist Wraps, Elbow Sleeves, Knee Sleeves, Warmer Shorts, One Soft Belt, One Hard Belt, Competition Grip Shirt, Straps
Time Limit: 60 seconds
Scoring: Max Reps
Athlete will start standing behind the barbell. On the start command of the judge, the athlete will strap into the barbell (if using straps) and begin pulling. Judges will be giving a Down command. No touch-and-go reps will be permitted. Reps identified as touch-and-go by the judge can be taken away at the discretion of the judge. Athlete will be given a down command once a good rep is completed. Judges are looking for shoulders back, hips through, and knees locked. If the bar is dropped before the down command, no rep will be given. No finger-tipping the bar while using straps. Deliberately dropping the barbell from the top will result in a ZERO for the event. Please respect the equipment.
4. Odd Object Hold
Equipment Allowed: Chalk, wrist wraps, elbow sleeves, knee sleeves, belt
Time Limit: N/A
Scoring: Max Time
Weights are TBD and will be announced at the event.
Spotter/ Loaders will hand athlete implement; arms will be extended and locked out in front with hands on implement. Once fully extended and in position time will start; max hold for time. Athlete's back will be against a pillar or wall at the event center- if butt and or shoulders come off the pillar/wall at any time clock will stop. Split times will be given.
