Kansas City’s Ultimate Strongman
$85
Lees Summit, MO
Event 1: Lever Deadlift
The athlete will approach the lever and deadlift the implement from the first ring facing the weight. On the down signal, the athlete will unhook the attachment and proceed to the second ring. Same process for all four rings. The last ring will be for as many reps as possible. The weight indicated is the total weight of the implement and the added weight. There is no split time on the reps, but you do have a maximum of 75 seconds. Equipment allowed: straps, belt, soft belt, briefs, knee sleeves, chalk. Not allowed: tacky, deadlift suits of any kind.
Event 2: Max Yoke/Cambered Bar Overhead Press
The athlete will receive 3 attempts to get the heaviest possible yoke or cambered bar overhead. Wessel rules apply, 5lb increments for the ladies, 10lb increments for the men. The bar must start from underneath the chin but can be push pressed, strict pressed or whatever as long as knees, hips, shoulders, and elbows are in place and locked out. The ladies starting weight will be on an 85lb Titan Cambered bar. The starting weight for men is 195lbs on a Rogue yoke. Equipment allowed: knee and elbow sleeves, elbow wraps wrist wraps, hard belt, soft belt. Not allowed tacky, any sort of equipment that enhances the lift like a slingshot.
Event 3: Death by Grip Medley
There are three components to this timed race. First up is a Titan wheelbarrow which the athlete will pick up and carry 50ft. The second is a farmer’s walk for 50ft back. The final component are Dinnie stone rings that will be placed at the 25ft marker. Once the athlete has finished the farmer’s walk he or she will return to the mid section and walk the Dinnie rings back to the finish line. The weights of the Dinnie rings will not be the same but offset with a heavier and a lighter ring. Drops are allowed but no scooting the weigh. If the athlete is not able to complete the course, the distance will be measured. Equipment allowed: knee and elbow sleeves, hard belt, soft belt, chalk. Not allowed tacky, suits, any sort of wrist straps.
Event 4: Sandbag Throw Over Bar
Athlete will start when the judge gives the command. The athlete will then proceed to pick the lightest bag and throw it over a bar which is 11 ft tall for the women and 15ft for the men. If the sandbag does not go over the top of the bar, the athlete is allowed to take as many attempts as needed within the 60 seconds. The athlete will then proceed to throw the next bags in order of lightest to heaviest until they either throw them all over the bar or time runs out. This is a two handed throw using a “kettlebell swing“ technique. Equipment allowed: knee and elbow sleeves, hard belt, soft belt, chalk. Not allowed tacky, suits, any sort of wrist straps.
Event 5: Stone Over Bar
The athlete will be given an option of Atlas stones to pick for reps within one minute. One rep with a heavier stone automatically beats any number of reps completed with a lighter stone. Height of the bar will be 48” for the men and 44” for the women. If the athlete chooses a heavier stone but fails to get a rep, they will get a zero on the event. Equipment allowed: knee and elbow sleeves, hard belt, soft belt, chalk, tacky.
All weights are posted but subject to change.
Weigh ins will be done either on the 27th from 5-7PM at The Forge or from 8:30-9:30AM on the 28th. Rules meeting will be at 9:30.
Tickets for spectators 12 & up will be 10$ at the door cash or Venmo.
