Lift For Lani 5
$60
Albuquerque, NM
This is a family-friendly, open to all and accessible to all strongman event. All proceeds for this event will go to https://crossroadsabq.org/, an organization dedicated to helping women overcome addiction. This event is in honor of my daughter Noelani Tideman, one of too many lives taken too early by drugs and alcohol.
This year I am testing out a new category -- Beginner Strength Athlete. This is for people who might just be starting their strength journey. Regular novice class is for strength athletes who might be coming from different strength sports, such as powerlifting, weightlifting, or crossfit.
Also note that I do have a childrens category. Iron Podium doesn't allow me to make certain categories cheaper, but the children's entry is only $30. Talk to me if you want to enter a child.
Categories might be combined if too few people are entered. Late registration is allowed but no guarantee of a shirt for late registrations. Weigh-ins will be at TNT Gym all day Friday, April 25 and Saturday from 8-9 AM at TNT Gym.
Events are:
Deadlift Ladder:
Athlete has 60 seconds to complete an increasingly heavy sequence of 5 deadlifts. The first 4 deadlifts will be standard barbell, the last will be axle. All deadlifts will be standard height. Athlete will be given a down command. Allowed: straps, belt, multiple belts, sleeves, briefs, suits. Not allowed: forklift, tacky, exoskeletons.
"Run the Rack" Waiter Carry:
Athlete has 90 seconds to get as far down a rack of 12 dumbbells. Athlete will pick up one dumbbell at a time, lift the dumbbell above their head and walk 10 feet down and 10 feet back. The dumbbell must remain fully locked out overhead at all times. The athlete can drop the dumbbell if needed but all movement has to occur with the dumbbell locked out. Each dumbbell weight will be carried by each side (so if the athletes dumbbells range from 10 lbs to 60 lbs, then the athlete will carry the 10 lb with one hand first, then another 10 lb with the other, then move onto a 12 lb with one hand, then a 12 lb with the other hand, etc.). Allowed: belts, sleeves, wraps
Strongman Cornhole:
Athlete has 3 bags, 2 attempts per bag to throw bags into a cornhole board placed 12 feet from the athlete. Bags are progressively heavier. The goal is to get as many points as possible. The first bag is worth 1 point for getting on the board and 2 points for getting the bag in the hole. The second bag is 2 points for getting on the board and 3 points for getting in the hole and the third is 3 points for getting on the board and 4 points for getting in the hole. Points are cumulative -- the points the athlete gets per attempt are added together. Allowed: belts, sleeves, wraps. Not allowed: tacky, cannons of any form
Max Load:
Athlete has 60 seconds to load as much weight from a variety of implements onto a platform. Athlete starts at the implements, then has to carry them 30 feet onto the platform. If an implement falls off the platform, the athlete has to put it back on the platform. Allowed: belts, sleeves, wraps. Not allowed: tacky
Grip Medley:
Athlete will attempt to lift a medley of grip implements: saxon bar, anvil lift, and rolling thunder. Points will be given for each hand the athlete lifts the anvil and the rolling thunder. All 5 lifts (saxon bar, anvil lift left hand, anvil lift right hand, rolling thunder left hand, rolling thunder right hand) must be done in 2 minutes or less. Athlete will be given a down command. Allowed: belts, sleeves, wraps. Not allowed: tacky,
