Max Monsters 2024 WI STATE RECORD BREAKERS, BY CERBERUS STRENGTH USA

FORMAT:

  • The athlete order for the first event is determined by the registration date. Athlete order will follow lightest weight attempted to heaviest weight attempted for max events, per class.
  • All proceeds go back to the athletes. 4 X $100 Cerberus Strength Gift Cards up for grabs PLUS $500.00 in cash PLUS all spectator tickets sales.
  • United States Strongman-sanctioned event. National Qualifier-Top 3 athletes in each division or class will qualify for 2025 Nationals.
  • Five-event contest.
  • Athletes must complete lifts in at least 3 events to qualify for state record attempts.
  • An athlete will receive a zero score for any skipped events.
  • Max Monsters reserves the right to combine weight classes to ensure meaningful competition.
  • If weight classes are combined, you may still make state record attempts for your actual weight class.

Important dates/times:

  • Weigh-ins – August 30th and 31st (see below)
  • Sign-up deadline – August 17th 2024
  • Deadline to purchase additional competition T-shirt – August 17th
  • Competition date – August 31st
  • Rules meeting – 9:00 am sharp August 31st
  • Warmups begin – 9:30 am or when the rules meeting ends
  • Event 1 begins  – 10:00 am sharp August 31st

 

Weigh-in / Check-in Process:

  • August 30th, 9:00 am – 12:00 pm at Premier Fitness, Appleton
  • August 30th, 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Premier Fitness, Appleton
  • August 31st, 8:00 am – 9:00 am at Premier Fitness, Appleton
  • No remote weigh-ins are allowed.
  • You will receive a copy of the rules, a competition T-shirt, and a meal ticket.
  • Athletes must be wearing undergarments when weighing in.

Parking:

  • Parking is allowed at Premier Fitness only.
  • Respect “no parking” signs when applicable.

Hotel Information:

Event Shirts: 

  • Athletes will be given event shirts with individual names and are asked to wear them during competition except during atlas stones. No Grip shirts are allowed unless worn under a comp T-shirt.
  • Additional T-shirts are available for purchase. Email meet director or contact via Instagram.

Social Media:

Spectators & Coaches: 

  • There will be a door fee of $10 for non-athlete attendees. This includes your coach (all proceeds go back to athletes).
  • Children under the age of 18 may attend at no cost when accompanied by an adult.
  • No spectators are allowed in the warm-up area.
  • Coaches are allowed in the warm-up area with a wristband.
  • No Coaches are allowed on the competition floor.

Code of Conduct: 

  • By registering to compete, you and your coach agree to the United States Strongman Code of Conduct
  • Zero tolerance for any acts of bullying, discrimination, or harassment to any athlete, coach, spectator, volunteer, judge, vendor, etc. You will be asked to leave and banned from any future competitions promoted by Kevin Prothero.

Event 1 Log Ladder

  • Athletes will lift 3 logs, lightest to heaviest. Fastest time wins.
  • 60-second time limit
  • Athlete will start standing behind the first log, hands off until time starts.
  • Down command will be given when lockout is achieved, with feet in line. At that point, the athlete may move on to the next log.
  • No resting log on head.
  • Gear allowed: Knee sleeves (no knee wraps), 1 soft belt, 1 hard belt, elbow sleeves (one pair only, no elbow wraps), wrist wraps, chalk, liquid chalk, neoprene shorts, neoprene calf support. No barefoot lifting. No tacky substance of any kind, no tacky towels. No spray tacky. No built-up belts that aid in cleaning the logs.
  • Metal belt buckles need to be turned to the side or rear on wooden logs.
  • Respect the equipment.

Event 2 kratos Cerberus Deadlift Bar Max (Arnold Classic Strongman Replica Event)

  • 3 attempts allowed. Wessels rules.
  • Down command given when full lockout achieved.
  • 60-second time limit per attempt. Time starts when the athlete steps on the platform. The athlete has 30 seconds to approach the platform from the call "bar is loaded".
  • Your attempt ends at the 60-second mark, regardless of how close you are to lockout. You may re-grip bar as many times as you need during your 60-second attempt.
  • Opening attempts will be collected at weigh-ins. The second and third attempts are announced by the athlete immediately after the attempt.
  • Gear allowed: Lifting straps, deadlift suit & briefs, knee sleeves (no knee wraps), 1 soft belt, 1 hard belt, elbow sleeves (one pair only, no elbow wraps), wrist wraps, chalk, liquid chalk, neoprene shorts, neoprene calf support. No barefoot lifting. No tacky substance of any kind. No spray tack. No tacky towels.
  • You MAY drop bar after the down-command is given.
  • No "slam pulls", "Bar bouncing", NO SUMO, NO finger-tip deadlifting, your thumbs must be in contact with the bar.

Event 3 Max sandbag toss 15'

  • 3 attempts allowed. Wessels rules.
  • 60-second time limit per attempt.
  • You may continue to throw the bag until successful per 60-sec attempt.
  • Bag may be in the air or hands as time expires and still count as successful if it lands after time expires. The attempt is over when time has expired AND bag is touching the ground (no catching missed attempts).
  • 15' for both men and women.
  • Gear allowed: Knee sleeves (no knee wraps), 1 soft belt, 1 hard belt, elbow sleeves (one pair only, no elbow wraps), wrist wraps, chalk, liquid chalk, neoprene shorts, neoprene calf support. No barefoot lifting. No tacky substance of any kind, including tacky towels.

Event 4 "Dinnie Stone" Carry Max distance

  • We will use Cerberus Dinnie Stone handles LINK HERE to purchase your set. Use code PROTHERO10 to save.
  • Max distance wins event.
  • The course will be 45ft in length.
  • Once you cross the finish line you may will drop the implement and take the implement back in the other direction. You may do this as many passes as you can for max distance.
  • You are allowed 1 drop per "pass".
  • Your attempt ends on the second drop on a single pass.
  • You are allowed 10 seconds from your allowed drop to re-pick the handles. You may not advance either handle when repositioning for pick. this 10 second rule also applies to making your turn at the end of the 45ft run. 
  • Distance will be measured to the front of the heavier implement.

Event 5 Max Atlas Stone over Bar 48"

  • 3 attempts allowed. Wessels rules.
  • 60 second time limit per attempt.
  • You may continue your attempt after time expires as long as the stone is not touching the ground. Once the stone is dropped past 60 sec your attempt is over.
  • May not use any part of the bar to aid in the lift. Incidental contact with bar is allowed at the discretion of the judge.
  • Intentionally slamming the stone on the bar will result in a warning. Second warning is not given, you will be given a zero. Respect the equipment.
  • Gear allowed: Knee sleeves (no knee wraps), 1 soft belt, 1 hard belt, elbow sleeves (one pair only, no elbow wraps), wrist wraps, neoprene shorts, neoprene calf support, stone sleeves or tape. No barefoot lifting.
