Weigh-Ins
Weigh-ins will be on Friday from 9 am to 12 noon and in the evening from 4 pm to 8 pm.
Same-day weigh-ins from 7 am to 7:30 am by appointment.
Rules Meeting
Rules meeting will start at 8:00 AM, Competition starts at 9:00 AM.
National Qualifier
The top 3 athletes in each class will receive an invite to the 2025 USS Nationals.
Training/ Programming
The 2024 San Diego's Strongest 12-week Strongman Training plan will be available to purchase. This template will be delivered via the Grinder Gym Workouts Software.
In addition, we will host group training classes at Grinder Gym in preparation for San Diego's Strongest.
Order of Events
The order of events will be posted closer to the competition along with a detailed schedule. All events will be run as head-to-head events with more than one class going at a time. This will mean that the order of events will not be the same for each class.
Awards
Medals will be awarded to the top 3 finishers in each class.

Contest and Event Rules
Contesting a Call: To contest a call any athlete would need to bring a video to review with the appointed head judge or competition director for review. This person will review any video footage and make a final call. At no time should any athlete, or athlete representative approach the scorekeeper, or the scorekeeper table with any questions.
Athlete's contest standing will be reordered after each event based on accumulative scoring of the completed events. This information is available live on IronPodium. The athlete's order for the first event will be based on when the athlete signed up for the event. The first to sign up goes last and the last to sign up goes first.
Catch All Rules:
- Competition shirt MUST be worn (Unless Event Specified)
- Shoes are required (Unless Event Specified)
- No tacky or sticky substance WHATSOEVER!
- No gloves!
- No build-up belts (only one hard and one soft)
- DEADLIFT SUITS OR BRIEFS ARE ALLOWED!
- Any athlete who leaks any body fluids (blood, urine, vomit, etc.) on the competition floor must help clean it up!

Event 1: Overhead Press Medley: Axle Bar Clean and Press/ Log Clean & Press/ Block Clean & Press
This event will be timed. Each athlete will have 90 seconds to complete the medley. You will first clean and press the axle bar for 1 rep before moving on, then move to the log and press for 1 rep before moving on, and finally to the block. At the block, you will clean the block into position and you can then press the block for as many reps as possible in the available time. You will receive 1 rep for every implement that you successfully press overhead followed by 1 rep for as many successful reps on the final implement. You must successfully press the implements in the order listed. If you do not complete the lift, you can not move forward.
Starting Position: The athlete must be near the bar ready to lift and have the attention of the judge and timekeeper.
Commands given: Start, and Down command for each implement. Athletes must receive a down command for the rep to count. Reps will be deducted at the discretion of the judge.
Equipment allowed: Grip Shirt, elbow & knee sleeves, wrist wraps, chalk, soft belt, hard belt
Equipment not allowed: Tacky of any kind
Implement Details: Custom Axle, Titan Log (10" Ladies, 12" Men) , Custom Block

Event 2: Axle and Tire Squat for Reps
This event will be timed. Each athlete will have 60 seconds to perform as many reps as possible. Squats will be performed to a prescribed height using boxes. The athlete will receive a UP and DOWN command from the judge to confirm that the depth and lockout of each rep have been achieved. Each down negative rep will require a controlled STOP (i.e., no bouncing).
A full rep consists of receiving a UP and DOWN command at the bottom and top of the rep, respectively. Reps will be removed for bouncing.
Starting Position: Athletes will be allowed to unrack the weight before time is started.
Commands given: Start, Up, Down
Equipment allowed: Soft belt, hard belt, knee/elbow sleeves, knee wraps, suits, briefs, wrist wraps, any shoes, chalk
Equipment not allowed: grip shirts, tacky, spray tacky, grip shorts, wrist straps
Implement Details: Custom Axle, Jeep Tires + LBS Plates

Event 3: Carry Medley: Zercher Yoke/ Sandbag/ Husafell
Each athlete will have 75 seconds to Zercher Yoke Carry, Sandbag Carry, and Husafell Carry over 50 feet. It will begin with each implement being moved from one end to the other individually (carry down, run back) event is completed when the last implement is carried over the finish line or time is complete.
Starting Position: The athlete will have at least one hand on the yoke, and must not be under the yoke until after the start command.
Equipment allowed: Belts, wrist wraps, elbow, and knee sleeves permitted.
Equipment not allowed: Grip shirts, grip shorts, tacky, and spray tacky.
Distance: 50 feet for each implement.

Event 4: Max Mammoth Bar Deadlift
Once the judge raises their arm and a "start" command is given the athlete can initiate the lift. Each athlete will have 30 seconds to deadlift the bar into a fully locked-out position. A locked-out position will include hips and knees locked out and a judge"down" command is then given. Each athlete will be given 3 attempts to find their max. If the athlete misses an attempt their previous lift will be their score. Athletes MAY NOT drop the bar from the locked-out position. Even if the lift is successful, dropping the bar will result in a NO LIFT. A mixed grip is allowed, sumo stance is not. Conventional lifts only. Athletes may start with hands on the bar. There will be 20LB jumps for women and 40LB jumps for men.
Starting Position: The athlete must be near the bar ready to lift and have the attention of the judge and timekeeper. The athlete must acknowledge they are about to attempt an official lift and are done with any warm-up attempts.
Equipment allowed: Wrist wraps, wrist straps, elbow sleeves, knees sleeves, belt, chalk, deadlift suits, and shorts.
Equipment not allowed: Tacky of any kind
Implement Details: A Texas Power Bar with Madewell Strength Sleeve Extensions.

Event 5: Sandbag Toss
The athlete will throw sandbags over a bar. Bags must be thrown in ascending order (lightest to heaviest). Bags will be lined left to right. 60 sec time limit. Women's bar height = 12 feet. Men's bar height = 15 feet.
Starting Position: The athlete must have one hand on the upright until given the start command. Once the start command is given the athlete can run up to the first bag and move the bag to any position to throw the bag. Once the bag is thrown, the athlete can repeat the next bag. If a bag doesn't clear up and over the upright, the athlete can retrieve the bag and attempt again. There are unlimited attempts in the allotted time.
Equipment allowed: Elbow & knee sleeves, wrist wraps, chalk, soft belt, hard belt, gloves
Equipment not allowed: Tacky of any kind
Implement Details: Custom Upright, Cerberus Throwing Bags
