NM STATE RECORD BREAKER LOG

Most weight wins. Wessel Rules – Three :60 attempts, miss a weight and the athlete is out. The athlete may make as many attempts as they can within the :60 to get the weight up. We will do this powerlifting style. The whole group will take their first attempt before anyone takes their second attempt, and so on. ALL athletes must declare their opening weight at the time of weigh-ins. After each successful lift, the athlete must go tell the head judge what their next attempt is. Each round will be ordered from lightest to heaviest, so order may change. Listen for the judge’s on deck and in the hole calls. Current USS NM State Records in matrix below.

Women – 10” Log, 55# empty

Men – 12” Log, 135# empty

Allowed – One soft belt, one hard belt, sleeves, wraps, chalk, grip shirt

Not Allowed – Tacky, suits, straps, hooks, setting the log on your head

NM STATE RECORD BREAKER DL

Most weight wins. Wessel Rules – Three :60 attempts, miss a weight and the athlete is out. The athlete may make as many attempts as they can within the :60 to get the weight up. We will do this powerlifting style. The whole group will take their first attempt before anyone takes their second attempt, and so on. ALL athletes must declare their opening weight at the time of weigh-ins. After each successful lift, the athlete must go tell the head judge what their next attempt is. Each round will be ordered from lightest to heaviest, so order may change. Listen for the judge’s on deck and in the hole calls. While straps are allowed, the athlete will be eating into their :60 in order to strap in. Current USS NM State Records in matrix below.

Allowed – One soft belt, one hard belt, sleeves, wraps, chalk, straps, suits, hitching

Not Allowed – Tacky, hooks, sumo

YOKE-TO-DUCK MEDLEY

Fastest time wins. :60 time limit. If an athlete does not finish the course, a distance will be measures. The athlete will start with the Yoke. On “Go” the athlete will carry the Yoke 40 feet. The entire yoke must cross the line on the other side. At that point, the athlete will run back and grab the Duck Walk Implement. They will then carry the duck walk for the 40 feet. Time stops when the entire implement crosses the line. Unlimited Drops. Five second penalties to sliding.

Allowed – One soft belt, one hard belt, sleeves, wraps, chalk, grip shirt

Not Allowed – Tacky, hooks, suits, sliding

TRUMP SANDBAG-TO-SHOULDER

Most reps at the higher weight wins. :60 time limit. One-arm control must be shown in order to receive a down command. Athletes will have a choice between two different sandbags. The second will be heavier. How you train determines which sandbag you will target. A single rep on the heavier sandbag will beat any number of reps on the lighter sandbag - i.e., 1 rep at 200# will beat 10 reps at 100#. You can start with the lighter sandbag and then move up to the heavier one, but once you move up, YOU CANNOT MOVE BACK DOWN. The time it takes for you to switch will be part of your overall time - the earlier you switch sandbags, the more time you'll get to make an attempt. You can also decide to start on the heavier sandbag. If you get reps on the heavier AND lighter sandbags, only the reps on the heavier one will determine your final score. All belt buckles must be behind the athlete. We don’t need to puncture any sandbags.

Allowed – One soft belt, one hard belt, sleeves, wraps, chalk, grip shirt

Not allowed – Tacky, hooks, suits

Tie breaker event for podium finishers. Likely a head-to-head grip.
