Veterans Day Strongman Challenge VII

We are very excited to host the Seventh Annual Veterans Day Strongman Challenge in November of 2024! There will be more details and information added to Iron Podium as we go. WEIGH-INS / ATHLETE CHECK-INS:
Weigh-ins will open at 10 AM on Friday, November 8th at the venue. You will weigh in, get your competition shirt. You can also weigh in Saturday morning before 9 AM.
RULES MEETING:
The rules meeting will be at 9:30 AM at the venue. We will go through the events, rules, and flow of the show. Rules videos will be posted on the Instagram page @veterans_day_strongman_comp leading up to the show.
REGISTRATION DEADLINE:
All entries must be submitted by October 24, 2024, at 11:59 PM. IronPodium is the only form of entry. Athletes must be a United States resident and live in the United States to compete. Order of entry does matter. No refunds will be issued.
SPECTATOR ADMISSION:
Spectator fees must be paid at the venue the day of the show. The fee is $15 for anyone 12 year or older.
WHAT DO I GET IF I PODIUM?
Top 3 in each class will receive a custom trophy.
COMPETITION GRIP SHIRT:
Grip shirts are allowed.
EVENT RULES: *Subject to change - all current information listed here and updated if there are changes.
FOR ALL EVENTS:
- Competition shirt or Grip shirt MUST be worn
- No bare feet (must have at least socks on)
- No tacky or sticky substance
- No gloves
- No build-up belts (only one hard and one soft)
- No suits or briefs (including for deadlifts)
- Any athlete who leaks any body fluids (blood, urine, vomit, etc) on the competition field must help clean it up.
- No grip shorts are allowed during this show
1. AXLE C&P
Equipment Allowed: Chalk, Wrist Wraps, Elbow Sleeves, Knee Sleeves, Warmer Shorts, One Soft Belt, One Hard Belt, Grip Shirt
Time Limit: 60 seconds
Scoring: Max Weight
On the start command of the judge, the athlete will have 60 seconds to complete a clean and press. The judge will give a down command for a good rep. If a down command is not given and the athlete drops the axle, no rep is given. A down command will be given when the athlete has pressed the axle overhead and has a locked elbow, is standing straight up and down, squared feet, control of the implement, and looking at the judge. If any athlete has an elbow lockout issue, it is their responsibility to notify the judge before the event on their turn. Once the athlete gets a down command, they must return the axle to the ground under control. The axle cannot be dropped from overhead, or the competitors attempt will not count. 2. DEADLIFT MEDLEY
Equipment Allowed: Chalk, Wrist Wraps, Elbow Sleeves, Knee Sleeves, Warmer Shorts, One Soft Belt, One Hard Belt, Straps (you can strap up before the start of the event)
Time Limit: 60 Seconds
Scoring: Max Reps
The athlete will start with their hands on the frame handles. On the start command of the judge, the athlete will lift the frame. The judge will give a down command and the athlete will then move to the axle. The athlete will lift the axle and once the judge gives a down command, they will move on to the power bar. The athlete will then lift the power bar for max reps getting a down command for each rep in the remainder of the 60 second time limit.
3. SANDBAG TO SHOULDER LADDER
Equipment Allowed: Chalk, Wrist Wraps, Elbow Sleeves, Knee Sleeves, Knee Wraps, Warmer Shorts, One Soft Belt, One Hard Belt, Grip Shirt
Time Limit: 75 seconds
Scoring: Reps + Time
The athlete will start behind the line. On the start command of the judge, the athlete will pick up the first sandbag to their shoulder. The athlete will receive a down command once the bag is held on shoulder under control with one hand. The athlete will then drop the bag and move to the next one in ascending weight. The athlete will lift as many bags as possible in the given 75 second time limit. Split times will be taken at the down command of each bag.
4. FRAME CARRY
Equipment Allowed: Chalk, Wrist Wraps, Elbow Sleeves, Knee Sleeves, Warmer Shorts, One Soft Belt, One Hard Belt, Grip Shirt, STRAPS ARE NOT ALLOWED
Time Limit: 60 Seconds
Scoring: Distance & Time
Athletes will start with hands on the frame. On the start command of the judge, the athlete will pick up the frame and walk it 40ft. The athlete will then drop the frame in the box, turn, pick the frame back up and return the frame to the original box. The frame can be dropped and repicked as many times as needed. The frame cannot at any point be pushed or dragged on the turf. If an athlete cannot finish the carry, they will be scored based on the distance frame was move within the 40ft movement area.
